Tues 5th June J H L Div 3 Aghada 0-14Cloyne 3-5

The Junior hurlers put in a greatperformance in Rostellan on Wednesday in a rearranged game against Cloyne. Itwas a performance full of character and resilience.

The team got off to a flying start and werewell on top. Brian Condon was accurate at frees and scores from AnthonyConnolly and Alan Walsh kept the home side in front. Just before half timeCloyne scored the second of their first half goals to be ahead at the break.Aghada showed real character and commitment from the restart and were on toponly to concede another goal with a quarter of the game remaining. From then onit was all Aghada and further scores from Brian, Anthony, and Ronan Kennedyensured that the home side was getting stronger and stronger. We had a few chancesto win it at the end but had to settle for a draw on the whistle. There wereparticularly strong performances from Liam Morrissey, Steven Cashman, andEoghan Cotter in the backs as well as Aidan O’Connell and Alan Walsh incenterfield. Ronan Kennedy, Oisin Lynch were strong up front while Ray Savageand Eric Higgins also worked very hard. The whole panel came out of the gamewith a lot of credit, in truth,

This was just reward for the panel whoprobably deserved to win it but a draw was, just about a fair result. Team;Paudie Wall, Richie Condon Eoin Cotter, Liam Morrissey, Brian Condon StevenCashman Kane Looney, Alan Walsh Aidan O Connell, Oisin Lynch Anthony ConnollyJack Hayes, Ronan Kennedy David Condon Robbie Steele.

Sat 9th June U8 Football Blitz

Aghada Under 8s travelled to Castlelyons onSaturday to compete in a very well organised and enjoyable football blitz inwhich they played 3 other teams from the Leamlara province - St Catherines,Lisgoold, and the hosts Castlelyons.

Our ten players put on a great display offootball, showing off all of the skills they have acquired this year, with thelads picking the ball up off the ground properly, tackling well, passingaccurately with hand and foot, and a few block downs thrown in the mix also. Our ten on the day:

Cian O Shea - Strong throughout, a talentin every position of the field

Ronan Murphy - 3 fine games, he was theMatch Winner v Lisgoold, chipping in with 2 great goals, including a fabulousflick with the hand of a high ball past the Lisgoold goalie. Sean Kavanagh -Very impressive, read the game very well throughout

Fionn O Connor - Again, a great reading ofthe game, something which can’t be coached! Very skilful. Aaron Atkinson - Verygood all round game, tough as nails.

Stephen O Shea - Magnificent performance, great movement, pace and has all the skills

Ross Foley - A safe pair of hands, put on agreat display of goal keeping vs St Catherines, saving the team on a number ofoccasions, great potential here

Tadgh O Connor - one of our best defensiveplayers, Tadgh was solid and disciplined.
