The Club have an up hill battle in the next few weeks as we play the back door in both codes
The hurling is first up when we play the loser of Blackrock/Milford on Sunday 17th June
Six days later on Sat 23rd June we play Newmarket at Killavullen with an 8-pm start

Saturday 26th May I.H.C. Aghada 1-15 Fermoy 4-9

Aghada won the toss and opted to play with the strong wind at their backs but it worked in Fermoy’s favour as they scored 2-1 in the opening 4 minutes of play to a single point from Cian Fleming. After Fermoy’s second major Aghada rallied with three minors on the trot two from placed balls by Trigger with Ger Melvin chipped in with one from play. It was all Aghada now but as we entered the second quarter points were exchanged when Trigger pointed from play. Then just as Aghada were making inroads Fermoy goaled again on the 16th minute to led by 3-2 to 0-5.

Aghada fought back as Pearse started to motor and pull one back, Trigger added two frees and John Paul O’Connor landed a great long range point as Aghada clawed their way back. But then on the 30th and 31st minute gave away two minors to leave the score at the short whistle 3-4 to 0-9

On resumption the tempo of the game lifted as both sides gave of their all. Three points were exchanged by the 9th minute then Pearse goaled and Aghada were back big time. Aghada now pushed on but found it hard going then the game turned on a poor decision by the ref after Aghada should have got a free he waved play on as Fermoy cleared their lines and got their 4th goal to led going into the final quarter by 4-8 to 1-12.

Aghada now lifted their game but the scores were hard to come by. Trigger went for a goal from a 21 yard free on two occasions to no avail; Pearse did land a point from one scramble alright. For the last ten minutes Fermoy now down to 14 men staged a rear guard action as Aghada tried hard to level matters but the north Cork men held firm.

Young Dave Rice had a mighty début and played his heart out. Aghada can take a lot from this game they played with the old Aghada fire and drive but we need to tighten up at the back. Team and scores
