Scrap Metal Collection
Again a big thank you to everyone who made our recent Scrap metal collection such a success but in particular thanks to Gerard Beausang, Richard Jermyn and Dolphins engineering for the use of their premises, to Willie Savage for the use of his machinery and to Austin Brosnan for the use of the Public address equipment.

Intermediate Football
Unfortunately our first foray into championship action for 2012 proved an unsuccessful one as we lost to competition favourites Eire Og  by 7 points on Saturday night 12th May.
Despite the loss this was a very encouraging display against a team packed with inter county players at various grades. We started the game very well containing our opponents, defending resolutely and breaking with great purpose when we had the ball. The score after 20 minutes had us 4 pts to 1 behind, our point an excellent effort from team captain Conor O Lomasney having taken a short free from James Nyhan.
An unfortunate injury to centre back Eoin O Sullivan on 25 minutes that led to his substitution seemed to knock us out of our stride and we conceded 1.02 in the 5 minutes before half time to leave us 1.06 to 1 point down at the half time whistle, a score that didn’t do justice to our first half efforts. We played excellent football for 2 thirds of the field but seemed to lose possession cheaply in the final third.
We began the second half with a rearranged team particularly at midfield as we struggled in the first half to get a hold of the ball. Unfortunately Eire Og got the start to the second half that we badly needed scoring the first 3 points,2 points from frees and one from play to leave us 11 points in arrears 1.09 to 1 point. The situation at this stage was either lie down and die or stand up and fight and as we have been accustomed to seeing from this team over the years they chose the latter. We began to get a foothold at midfield and the forwards began to show what they can do with a good supply of ball,a great point from play from James Nyhan was cancelled out by an Eire Og free. Our dominance around the middle saw us score 1.03 without reply the goal a great finish from Paul O Sullivan to leave us only 5 behind 1.10 to 1.05.
The experienced players on the Eire Og team however engineered the next 2 scores from frees to lift the siege and see them win out by 1.12 to 1.05.
Overall an encouraging display that gives the management team plenty to work on for round 2 which will be against Aghabullogue in early June.

Senior League
We collected 2 more valuable league points on Monday 14th May with a 2 point victory over St Finbarrs at a windswept Clonmult Memorial Park in Midleton.
This was a low scoring affair with both defences to the fore but a strong finish to the game with a goal from the impressive Paudie O Sullivan proving vital we held on to win on the scoreline of 1.10 to 1.08.
This was a very good team performance and comes at the right time as preparations for the championship game  against Sars are ramped up.
