Castlemartyr 0-10 Dungourney 2-13
Castlemartyr dropped their first league points of the season away to a sharper Dungourney team last Sunday morning. Conditions were extremely difficult but it was Dungourney who handled the strong wind better in the second half to run out comfortable winners in the end.

The first half was even enough with Castlemartyr having the advantage of a tricky wind. Castlemartyr actually led by 3 points at one stage after points from Seanie Hennessy, Eddid Clifford (2), Brian Lawton and Jimmy Smiddy (2). However a Dungourney goal quickly levelled the game and at half time they led on a score of 1-06 to 0-08. Our other first half scores came from a long range free from Brian Smiddy and another free from Jimmy Smiddy.

Dungourney took full advantage of the elements in the second half and scored a total of 1-7 to our 0-02. We struggled to get any quality ball into our forwards and our only scores came from a Jimmy Smiddy free and a Steve Collins point from play.

Castlemartyr 2-17 Cobh 2-13

Castlemartyr registered another 2 points in the hurling league, this time away to Cobh. Castlemartyr had a 2 point lead at half time with the score board reading 0-11 to 2-3. Jimmy Smiddy had 5 points, 3from play and 2 from placed balls. Our other scores in the forst half came from Mark Bowens, Eddie Clifford, Brian Lawton (2) and Damien McAulliffe(2).

Cobh were probably the better team in the second half and Castlemartyr had to rely on 2 soft goals for the victory. Our first goal came from a long shot from Seanie Hennessey which the Cobh goalie failed to gather and the second goal came from a rebound off the post when Damien McAulliffe was the quickest to react and finish the ball to the net. Our other second half scores came from Eddie Clifford, Jimmy Smiddy (4) and Brian Lawton.
