Well done to Pearse and Conor and the lads afourth league title in a row lets hope Sam will be in Rostellan next September

All the waiting is nearly over next Mondayall roads lead to Newcestown for the opening game in the Senior footballchampionship and what a test it is.

Castlehaven will be all out for this gamehaving lost the final last year they will want to put down a marker. Our ladshave trained well under Ronan and have a good enough league record in Div two, winning three, one draw in the last game out against Valley Rvs but we lost theopening game against Bantry a game we could have won.

Castlehaven operate in Div one and areunbeaten after four games winning three and one draw. Its all to play for andour lads will be well up for this.

Thur 26th April MHL Aghada 1-12 Ballinora2-6

The Minor hurlers secured a place in aLeague final with an outstanding performance on Thursday night against a verystrong Ballinora side. From the throw-in, the players showed great commitmentand they never lacked for courage. Aaron Stafford led the way in the scoringchart but there were other heroic performances as well, particularly from JamesO Leary between the sticks, who was rock solid throughout. Stephen Murphy wasanother to impress, covering almost every blade of grass in the process.

It was a very close contest throughout anda Ballinora goal after ten minutes put us under real pressure. However, thehome side plugged away and due mainly to Aaron Stafford’s coolness andaccuracy, led the way by three points at the break to leave the score at theshort whistle Aghada 0-9 Ballinora 1-3

The introduction of Jake O Donoghue forAndrew Murphy, who had given everything, gave the lads another boost. Jakepointed almost immediately but it was the hugely deserved goal of Scott CoyleGarde that put us six points up with a minute to play. Ballinora were notfinished and scored a goal with the last puck of the game.

This was a great win for the lads who, eventhough light in terms of numbers, will always give what they have. The resultwas a reward for the honesty and commitment to the cause. The Full back linewas strong throughout with Shane Crowley improving with every game. This lineis led by Jack Hayes, a tower of strength throughout. Michael Gilroy on theother side is another player getting better and better. Cian Savage had hisfirst outing for the minors and let nobody down with a solid performance whileKane Looney has become a rock in the half back line. Conor O Driscoll and ShaneDorney kept the engine room ticking. Robbie Steele put in another heroicperformance on the forty beside Evan Magee and Andrew Murphy. Up top, Ryan OKeeffe showed real leadership time and time again. All of these players putthemselves on the line.
