Cavanaghs of Fermoy Avondhu/Imokilly junior hurling league Dungourney 2-13 Castlemartyr 0-10.
Dungourney and Castlemartyr met in a local derby in the Cavanaghs of Fermoy sponsered junior
hurling league on Sunday morning last.A strong north easterley wind greeted the teams as they
lined out and it was Castlemartyr who took advantage of it to race into a three point lead before John
Ronayne got our first point.Niall Motherway and Martin Wall had a point each but Castlemartyr went ahead
again scoring two points without reply then came the turning point when Kevin Kelleher followed up on a
Niall Motherway shot to score the games first goal.Shane Casey had three poited frees before half time
but Castlemartyr too had three points and it left the score at the short whistle Dungourney 1-06
Castlemartyr 0-10.
At the turnover Dungourney got the benefit of the wind and they were determined to make it count ,points
from Martin Wall,Darragh Ahern,Kenneth Kelleher and a goal and four points from Shane Casey gave us
a final score of 2-13. Castlemartyr to their credit battled well in the second half but could only add two
points to their half time score and they ended with ten points.
