Under 13 Football blitz- La Trattoria Cup Report
Sat April14 Aghada
Midleton U 13 partook in a blitz organised by Aghada on Sat 14 of April.
We were drawn in a group with Kiltha Og and Sliabh Rua.
In our first game we played Kiltha Og which was a very entertaining game with the lead changing very often. Midleton won on a scoreline of 4goals and 7 points to 3-5.
Due to injuries and Feile we fielded a weaker team and I would like to congratulate all my players on their commitment especially the under 12 plyers who helped us out on the day.
Our next match was against Sliabh Rua who were very well organised and played a very quick brand of football. Their forwards were very much on top and they led by 4 – 6 to no score at half time. Our players tried very hard in the second half led by Andrew Nestor and Eoin Mitchell as well as Evan o Meara and Cathal Gunning .Good finishing by Cormac Higgins and Tom Scanlon meant we finished with a score of 2-4 to 6 - 8.
We played for 3rd and 4th place against Blarney who turned out to be very strong and beat us comfortably on a scoreline of Mid 3-5 Blarney 6-7.Colin Edgeby did very well from the under 12 group and our man of the tournament was Andrew Nestor followed very closely by Eoin Mitchell and Cormac Higgins.
Many thanks to the organisers of this wonderful day. It will stand to my players in the coming years.

WE hosted Blarney in the league and had two very good games of hurling. With the honours shared one game apiece on a score line of:  Midleton (1) 0.2 to Blarney (1) 1.1 and   Midleton (2) 8.3 to Blarney (2) 4.5.  The two games were played hard and fair and were enjoyable to watch.  Both Midleton teams trying hard and competing for every ball, but it did show that some players needing to work hard on our first touch so don’t forget training on Wednesday nights at CBS field at 6.30 each week. Next up is Blackrock at home on Saturday 28th be at main pitch for 1.30
Don’t forget your sponsorship card for the Solo run on this weekend in order for the Offaly trip.

Fe-10
On Thursday the 19th our FE10 hurlers travelled to the Glen to play in the rebel óg league. We had a big turn out on the night and played two games of 9 aside, We rotated players on and off so that every player got enough game time. Both teams performed very well on the night with some great hooking, blocking and scores from both sides. Thanks to the Glen for hosting the game and we look forward to welcoming them to Clonmult Memorial Park in the future.

Fe-9
Midleton FE 9s travelled to Riverstown last Saturday morning April 21st to play the home team in a series of hurling matches. A great turnout of players meant three Midleton 9-a-side teams were fielded. So, after splitting the panel up each team played three full matches. These players are made of stern stuff and at times it was ‘backs to the wall’ stuff but they stuck to their task manfully. This panel has made great progress this year and most importantly everyone is enjoying themselves.
Thanks to all of the parents, supporters and team coaches who helped with the travelling arrangements.

Training
Training is back in full swing for Juvenile teams. Check the club website www.midletongaa.com on the juvenile team page for your child’s team training times. We would ask parents to encourage their children to practice during the week even if the weather is bad, parents can practice catching the ball indoors. Please remember to bring your €2 to training sessions. This money is vital to keep the juvenile section of the club funded.
We have re commenced the coffee morning on Saturdays. Parents with children practicing can get a free cup of coffee and admire their kids in action. Many thanks to those parents who are helping with the teas and coffees.

Club Gear
Midleton GAA juvenile club will have a shop with club playing and leisure wear open on the first Saturday of each month. This will commence with the indoor training sessions in the Community Centre and then in the Club Pavilion once outdoor training re-commences.
