Jnr.A Football C/ship 1st.rnd.
Fr.O Neills 1:13 v Glenville 1:06
We carried our current impressive league form into our championship 1st.rnd.against Glenville in Dungourney on Sunday.Starting the game minus a couple of our more experienced lads meant C/ship debuts for some of our younger brigade and true to form to a man they didn't disapoint, after a bright opening in which we had the upper hand in possesion it took until the 6th min.for us to register our first score of the game courtesy of a point from Brian McCarthy this was followed a min.later by a peach of a point from Liam O Driscoll, continuing to control proceedings in most quarters of the field particularly in defence it was not long before Rob.Cullinane and Liam O Driscoll again added 2 more points to give us a good foot hold in the game with 18 mins.gone.Good inter play by Glenville led to them creating an overlap going forward and with our defence back tracking it led to their attacker being taken down in the small square, they duly dispatched the resultant penalty to the back of our net and soon followed up with a point to level matters with 21 mins.gone.We got our noses in front once more on 24 mins.with a good point from Rob.Cullinane and would have added to that score but for some wayward shooting in front of goals,Glenville were to score a good point of their own to leave the scores level at half time.We took the game to Glenville from the word go in the 2nd.half and were duly rewarded with a great goal scored by Brian McCarthy after 3 mins.of play,Brian added to this 2 mins.later with a fine point and when Darragh Sexton and Shane Harrington put 2 more points on the board it put us in a commanding position after 10 mins.of play in the 2nd.half.But credit Glenville for not throwing in the towel and in a 4 min.spell reduced our lead with 3 well taken points of their own with 14 mins.gone in the 2nd.half.We were starting to dominate matters around the middle of the field which meant our forwards were geting more posession as a result and in doing so were fouled going forward,Brian McCarthy duly slotted over 2 great free's on the 16th and 18th min.mark to open up a 5 point gap at this stage,Glenville were to score another point after 21 mins.which was to be their last of the game, our lads superior fitness was begining to take its toll on the overworked Glenville defence at this stage and when Shane Harrington on 26 mins.and Brian McCarthy on the 27th and 30th mins.added 3 more points it brought proceedings to a close and had us ahead by 7 points at the final whistle. This was as good a Team performance as you could hope for which left the management more than pleased and as a result of this victory and the way the draw for the remaining rounds has panned out we are now sitting in the quarter final awaiting our opponents.Credit also to Referee Mark Murphy on an excellent game. Team:D.Hyde,B.Murphy.B.Hayes.Ml.Pomphrett.K.Hegarty,R.O Neilll,J Barry,N.Griffin,P.Butler,D.Sexton(0:01),R.Cullinane(0:02),E.Holland,L.O Driscoll(0:02),B.McCarthy(1:06,0:3fr.),S.Harrington(0:02),Subs.used:A.Kenneally for B.Murphy 42mins.P.McMahon for D.Sexton 50mins.R.Hyde for R.O Neill 53mins.I.Lane for Ml.Pomphrett 58mins.

Fé 21 B Football Championship semi-final.
Fr.O Neills 0:10v St.Catherines 0:04
We secured our place in this years Fé21 B Football Final with a good win over St.Catherines in the semi-final last Sunday the 8th Apr. in Copperalley.Opting to play against the strong wind for the first half meant it was probably going to be a busy 30 mins.for our defence,in an even enough opening to the game it was St.Caths.who were to open the scoring with a point after 5 mins.of play, they continued to have the upperhand from an attacking point with only an occasional move into their half of the field from our lads for the first 15 mins.of play, and it was St.Caths.who were to add another point to their tally after 16 mins.having fired a number of long range efforts wide before that.We won possesion from the next kick out and duly went on the attack which resulted in Darragh Sexton firing over our first score of the game with 17 mins.gone,St.Caths.continued to attack but some great defending from our defence as a unit and more long range efforts from our opponents being kicked wide meant we were very much still in the game and when Mark Hayes scored a 2nd.point for us after 27 mins.of play it meant the sides went in level at the break. The 2nd.half started with our lads being aided by the strong breeze and with a few positional switches in the forwards it only took a minute for us to get our noses in front for the first time with a point from Liam O Driscoll,we started to take control of the game around the middle of the field and in the half forward line and within a 3 minute period stretched our lead to 4 pts.with 3 great points from Rob.Cullinane 2,and Paudie McMahon, sensing that the game was sliping away from them their credit were to score the next 2 points to reduce our lead to 2 points with 14 mins.gone.From this point on our lads upped the anti and took complete control of proceedings with some good points coming from the boots of Rob.Cullinane,John Barry(from his now customary run from Mid-field),Darragh Sexton and Paudie McMahon to finish off what was a very good 2nd.half performance and to win the day on the above scoreline. They now go forward to a Final meeting with Castlelyons on the 21st at 3:00pm venue TBC,best of luck to all involved.

Intermediate Hurling League rnd.3
Fr.O Neills 0:08 v Blackrock 0:19
We entertained Blackrock in Aghavine on Bank Holiday Monday and as can be seen from the above scoreline it was a tough hour at the office,we played with a strong breeze in the first half and went in behind 7.The 2nd half went from bad to worse as it progressed and we ended up being beaten comprehensively on the above scoreline.Team:E.Kenefick,J.Barry,J.O Mahony,B.Hayes,K.Hegarty,G.Holland,T.Motherway,N.Griffin,J.O Driscoll,L.O Driscoll,P.Butler,L.Swayne,A.Hayes,G.O Leary,E.Holland.Subs.used:A.Brett for A.Hayes(Half time),P.McMahon for J.O Driscoll,F.Duffy for E.Holland.

Intermediate Hurling Challenge.
Fr.O Neills 3:10 v Clonakenny 2:14
We welcomed the current Mid-Tipperary Intermediate Hurling Champions to Aghavine on Sat.evening the 14th last for a challenge game. After our last showing in the Lge.v’s Blackrock everybody was hoping for a much improved performance in this game and to be fair that was what we got.Fielding a very young side due to several of our more seasoned lads not being available because of injury and electing to play against a strong wind for the first half it was Clonakenny who led at half time on a scoreline of 1:10 to 2:04 with some very good scores being taken by both sides.Turning to play with the elements it was our lads who took the game to the Tipp.boys and with some good scores being taken through sheer hard work and a good work ethic we managed to get our noses in front with a few minutes to go but credit Clonakenny for not giving up and with a couple of good scores of their own it was they who won by a point on the above scoreline, all in all a very worthwhile exercise with the age old Cork/Tipp.rivalry still very much alive and kicking even at Club level. After the game we treated our opponents to some light refreshments a big word of thanks to all those who helped out with same especially Josephine,Miriam and Eileen.Team:E.Kenefick,A.Kenneally,J.O Mahony,T.Motherway,K.Hegarty,G.Holland,M.O Keeffe,D.Sexton,N.Griffin.P.Butler,A.Brett,L.Swayne,P.McMahon.R.Cullinane,L.O Driscoll.Subs.A.Hayes,A.McEvoy,J.Millerick,J.O Driscoll,F.Duffy,E.Holland,B.O Donoghue,S.Harrington.
