Fri 13th April J F C Aghada 0-3 Cobh 1-9

Aghada welcomed back Stephen O’Keeffe forthis do or die junior football game in Lisgoold.

We started well enough when Tony Wallequalised from play after five minutes. It was tit for tat for a long time butwe spurned scoring chance after chance. On the other hand Cobhkept the board ticking over and led by 3 points to 1 as we entered the secondquarter. From there to the short whistle Cobhadded 3 more minors while Aghada failed to register one indeed Walls point wasto be Aghada’s only score from play as Conor O’Driscoll added two from placedballs later in the game. While turning five points down it was all still toplay for and as we entered the third quarter we had it back to four from theafore mentioned O’Driscoll’s scores.

Aghada were then given a glimmer of hopewhen the Cobh full forward was sent off for an off the ball belt on Conor Rice, but it was Cobh who responded and got the goalthat we needed. Aghada now pressed forward but were unable to brake down the Cobh defence. As the long whistle approached they addedtwo more points and Aghada had a penalty saved and that was that ; Team;Patrick Kavanagh, Alan Walsh, Shane Wall, Brian Wall, Tim Hartnett, John Wall,Dave Rice, Richard Goode, Brendan Flaherty, Colm Power, Ger Melvin, StephenO’Keeffe, Conor O’Driscoll (0-2f), Tony Wall (0-1), Ronan Kennedy.

Subs 25m Conor Rice for Walsh, 36m PaudieWall for Melvin, 41m Dave Creedon for Goode (inj), 51m Alan Creedon for PaudieWall (inj).
