FIXTURES

U21 Football Championship v Castlelyons in Ballynoe on Saturday April 7th at 5pm ,it would be great if we got a big crowd to support our young lads so let all Dungourney gaels head to Ballynoe on Saturday night to give them plenty of encouragement.

RESULTS

Dungourney 0-11  Erins Own 1-13

Lisgoold was the venue for the first round of the junior A football championship where we took on a strong Erins Own side..Erins Own were the faster out of the blocks when they had two points on the board after three minutes but two points from John Ronayne put us level with six minutes on the clock

.We were starting to get build up some m0mentum at this stage when after just eight minutes Eoghann Ahern was forced off with a shoulder injury and was replaced by Niall Motherway, nevertheless we had the two next scores points again from John Ronayne and James Leahy.Unfortunatley from this to the 23rd minute Erins Own went on a run adding a goal and five points before we had another calamity Ritchie O Neill having to go off with a rib injury replaced by James McCarthy.

Erins  Own had another two points before the half time whistle with Dungourney replying with a good point from Kenneth Kelleher ending a tough half for Dungourney behind by a score of Erins Own 1-08 Dungourney 0-05.The half time view from most people was that while Erins Own were a very strong and mobile side Dungourney  could play a lot better and maybe with a few tweaks we could get our game going.

The second half started with Bill Ahern replacing Will Daly at corner forward  and abig improvement from the whole Dungourney team two unanswered points from John Ronayne gave us hope before Erins Own got one of their own not to be upstaged John had the next three points to leave us within touching distance.Erins Own just would not give in though and they had another point on twenty two Shane Hegarty replaced his cousin Sean around this time and was playing in a deeper role but we just couldent get that vital goal.John Ronayne again popped up with another point on twenty eight minutes but Erins Own finished the stronger with two more points .Final score Erins Own 1-13 Dungourmey0-11.
