Premier Intermediate Football Championship

On Saturday afternoon next Glenville premier intermediate footballers are in action in the Cork County premier intermediate football championship first round when they take on Grenagh in Mallow. This will be a tough battle for Glenville against a good Grenagh outtfit. These two sides met in last years championship and it took a replay for Glenville to overcome the mid cork men so another good performance is imperative if Glenville are to get the better of Grenagh and advance to round three of the championship. Throw-in in Mallow Gaa grounds is at 3.30pm. All support welcome.

Minor City Football League

Glenville 2-06
Setanta 0-09

On Sat night last Glenville took on Setanta in Ballinora in the minor city football league. Two goals from TJ Forde and Tadgh Barry Murphy ensured Glenville ran out winners on a scoreline of 2-06 to 0-09 after a good hours football. Gavin Cronin, Jimmy Costello, William Connolly, Pa Cronin, Daniel Riordan, Tadgh barry Murphy and TJ Forde put in good performances for Glenville on the night.

U16 Football League

Glenville 4-08
Carrignavar 2-08

Last week Glenville opened up there East Cork U16 football league with a good victory over near neighbours Carrignavar played in Watergrasshill. Shane Field, Martin Purcell, Ben Halbert, Shane O Regan, Kevin McCarthy and Michael Kennedy were to the fore as Glenville ended up two goal winners after a tight fought game and picked up the two points at stake.

U14 Feile Football

Glenville 6-05
Sliabh Rua 3-11

On Sunday afternoon last Glenville carried on there good form in this competition by qualifying for the latter stages of the U14 Feile competition with a one goal victory over Sliabh Rua played in Riverstick. Glenville got off to a brilliant start and goals by Ian O leary and Daniel Fitzgerald had Glenville in front by 3-01 to 0-1 after the opening 15 mins. Points by Kevin o Neill and Daragh o callaghan gave Glenville a healthy lead at the interval by 3-04 to 0-3 after playing with the wind. In the second half Sliabh Rua came back in to the game and kicked over a couple of points to reduce the margin but Glenville replied with a great goal by Aaron ricken. Sliabh Rua responded with a point and then got a goal of there own to futher reduce the margin. Minutes later Sliabh Rua converted a penalty to the back of the net to leave the score 4-04 to 2-05. Glenville attacked again and when Niall Griifin got a fantastic goal after running half the pitch Glenville had a 8 point lead with ten mins left in the game. Sliabh Rua kicked over 4 unanswered points before Shane o Riordan kicked over a point for Glenville to leave 5 points between the sides with only minutes left. Sliabh Rua kicked over another point from a free and then goaled to just leave a point between the sides. Glenville however kept attacking and were duely rewarded when Adam Murphy scored a brilliant goal to regain our 4 point advantage. Sliabh Rua had the final point but it was Glenville who came out on top by a goal after a great game of Football. Colm Fenton, Robert Kelleher, Kevin o Neill, Gavin o Donavon, Ian o Leary and Adam Murphy put in superb performances to ensure Glenville came through with the win . Glenville now face the winners of Carrigtwohill or Kiltha og in the semi final.

U12 Football League

Glenville 2-09
Youghal 1-08

On monday evening last Glenville recored a 4 point victory over Youghal in the East Cork U12 football league played in Fouhy park. This was Glenville's opening game of the league and after a good team performance, and good individual performances from Ronan o Keeffe, Josh Cooke, E Hammond, Conor o Leary and PJ Dennehy, Glenville took the points on offer.

U11 City Football League

Glenville 1-04
Douglas 0-03

Glenville had a very good win over Douglas in the u11 city league played in Douglas in a low scoring game. Cathal Maloney got the all important goal and good individual peformances by Cathal Maloney, Luke Ricken, Daniel Casey, James Gowen, Jason Power and Dylan McCarthy aided Glenville to win this close game.

Glenville 7-04
Mallow 3-09

Glenvillle recorded a very good win last tuesday evening with a 7-04 to 3-09 win over Mallow in the u11 City football league played in Glenville. Trailling 1-07 to 1-01 at the break, Glenville put in a brilliant second half performance to run out worthy winners. Aaron Spriggs, Thomas Dinan, Pearse Maloney, Sean Driscoll, Con o Callaghan and Aaron Collins performed very well for Glenville.
