Fé21 B Football C/ship 17/03/12
Fr.O Neills 3:07 v Carrignavar 0:02
Our Fé 21 Footballers got our Championship season off to the best possible start on St.Patricks Day with a well deserved victory over Carrignavar.
Played in the well prepared Carrigtwohill in ideal weather conditions we settled into the game from early on but with all our possesion we found it difficult to put scores on the board. We took the lead in the 10th min.courtesy of a fine point from Darragh Sexton, which was soon followed up by 2 more white flags from Paudie McMahon and Ken.Hegarty,a fantastic powerfull run from midfield by John Barry finished up with Paudie scoring a brillantly taken goal to put us firmly in control coming up to half time leading on a scoreline of 1:03 to 0:00,Carrignavar to be fair to them were still very much in the game at this stage but some wayward shooting in front of goals was costing them dearly.Carrig did get off the mark early in the 2nd half scoring a point but we responed soon after with a point of our own from Donough O Flynn, possesion was being shared 50/50 at this juncture with both sides guilty of wasting some good scoring oppertunities,Carrig registered another point 10 mins.into the half which was followed once again by 2 more good points from Paudie and Darragh, soon after we took a firm grip on proceedings when Darragh scored a well taken goal, this had the desired effect on our lads and soon after Liam O Driscoll was to score a fortunate goal when the ball went all the way to the back of the Carrig net from a,the very strong Sun at that time prob.played its part aswell,John Barry was to score a good indivual point to bring the scoring to a finish and in doing so capped off a very good hours work, all in all the selectors were well pleased with a good honest hours performance from all the lads and now look forward to a meeting with Glenville next Friday night the 23rd @ 8:00pm,venue TBC.

Intermediate Hurling Lge.rnd.2 18/03/12
Fr.O Neills 2:06 v Kanturk 3:08
We travelled to Mallow on Sun.evening to play Kanturk in the 2nd.rnd.of the Intermediate Hurling Lge.With injuries still being a problem we fielded a relatively young team once again,we started the game brightly and at a good pace and had 2:03 on the scoreboard after 15 mins.Kanturk scored a goal on the rebound from a close in free soon after and scored a second one from play a few minutes later, the sides went in level at the break. We were first to score in the second half but Kanturk replied once more,we were finding it more and more difficult to penetrate the Kanturk defence as the half wore on and they were rewarded with a third goal when a ball in from the wing deceived both our full back and Goalkeeper finishing up in the back of the net,we swoped points after that and were beaten on the above scoreline,a lenghty stopage happened early in the second half when Eoghan McCarthy was treated for concussion but thankfully Eoghan was fine afterwards in the dressing room.

Fé21 B Football Championship 23/03/12
Fr.O Neills 1:07 v Glenville 1:03
We have qualified for the semi-final of this years Championship courtesy of a hard earned and well deserved victory over Glenville played in Rostellan on Fri.night the 23rd.We took the game to our opponents from the throw in yet it was Glenville who opened the scoring with well taken point we replied within a minute with a good point of our own scored by Darragh Sexton and soon after Mark Hayes raised another white flag,we continued to attack and were rewarded when Mark O Keeffe was brought down in the small square after a powerfull run through the middle,up stepped Paudie McMahon who expertly dispatched the resultant penalty to the back of the Glenville net,we were taking control of proceedings at midfield at this stage due to some very determined play by both John Barry and Rob.Cullinane which resulted in us adding two more points courtesy of Darragh and stretch our lead to 6 points after 25 mins.of the first half,Glenville were to score another point soon after to leave the half time score at 1:04 to 0:02 in our favour. The second half was to bring a more determined effort from Glenville and it was they who were first to score when a ball that should have been cleared by our defence somehow ended up in the back of our net,it was game on now as the saying goes, they added a point 5 mins.later to cut our lead to a point with 10 mins.gone in the 2nd half but as events transpired this was to be their last score of the game. The hard questions were now being asked of our lads and they started to come up with the answers by way of 3 great points scored by Rob.Cullinane,Darragh Sexton and Paudie McMahon in that order in a 5 minute period, another feature of this period of play was some inspiring runs up the field bye our Captain Barry Hayes which had the desired effect in leading to some of these scores being taken, this was to bring the scoring to a finish with both defences on top from here on in.This was as tough an encounter as you could expect at this stage of the Championship and it should stand to our lads as they now go on to play St.Catherines in the semi-final,well done to our selectors and the team on a very good disciplined and determined performance on the night.

Minor A Football Lge.25/03/12
Fr.O Neills 3:10 v Blarney 2:09
We travelled to Blarney today hoping to keep our unbeaten start to the Football league intact.Having to line out minus 3 of our more experienced lads due to injury wasn't going to make it any easier, never the less the 15 that started and the subs.that came on showed great character and determination and won out on the above score line, well done to all involved and after 4 games played we sit at the top of the table,we take a break from Football for the time being and turn our attentions to Hurling with our first game in the Premier 2 League fixed for Tues.week the 3rd of April against Fermoy in Fermoy at 7:00pm,the best of luck to everyon involved..Team:D.O Reilly,E.Motherway,A.McEvoy,G.O Connell,T.Millerick,Wm.Lane,D.Harrington,A.Kenneally,D.Sexton(1:00),K.O Sullivan(0:02),S.Lee(0:02),D.ODriscoll,D.Dalton,P.McMahon(0:05),B.Dunne(2:01).Subs used:K.Hegarty for G.O Connell,E.O Neill for S.Lee,P.Steele for D.Dalton.
