A disappointing week results wise for the club. Lack of continuity is a problem for the Junior footballers. Different line outs from match to match means that its going to be difficult to settle on a likely team. St. Catherines were off to a good start in this latest junior football division 2 league tie against Lisgoold under lights at Ballynoe on Wednesday night April 1st. Alan Carr kicking over the lead point on five minutes. Paul Higgins quickly adding a second inside sixty seconds. But Catherine’s challenge on the concession of two Alan Connery goals gradually faltered and eventually petered out. A Padraig Noonan free touched over by Jason Roche was Catherines’ last score on twenty six minutes. Cathal Cronin with a 1-03 second half tally confirming a final scoreline of 3-11 to 0-3 in favour of Lisgoold.

Not making excuses but the Intermediate panel are dealing with an ever increasing injury list. Tracton all but dominated this round five Rochestown Park sponsored division one tie in sunny conditions in Ballynoe on Sunday evening last. All six starting forwards plus Chris Lordan in the middle of the field and wing back Kieran Corrigan were on the scorers list by half time with the visitors soundly ahead on a 1-12 to 0-04 scoreline. Positional and also a few changes in personnel saw a much more committed performance from Catherines’ on the changeover. Sean Barry and John Mulcahy had by now shared from points between them, with Shane Cotter accurate from placed balls. Probably the deciding moment came about when opposition goalkeeper Damian Walsh parried substitiute Richie O’Connell’s goal bound effort on fifty two minutes. Final score St. Catherines 0-11 Tracton 1-14.
