Senior Hurling League
Midleton 3-12 Carrigtwohill 0-13
Our Senior Hurlers played their third game in the Conroy Cup on St. Patricks Day when we hosted our neighbours Carrigtwohill. There was a large crowd in attendance for what was an attractive fixture played in fine weather on a sticky sod. Both sides were short a number of players but still served up an entertaining hours play. Midleton started the stronger and were helped on their way by a fine goal from Pa Whyte. Carrigtwohill rallied towards half time and reduced the Midleton lead to the minimum. At half time Midleton led by a point 1-07 to 0-08. The second half was more of the same from Midleton as they drove forward. Two more Midleton goals were to prove decisive and in the end we had eight points to spare. After two draws in our opening two games it was good to get a win under our belt. The first round of the Championship is still two months away but it will not be long coming around.
Team: Brian Behan, Killian Burke, Declan Ryan, Patrick O’Mahony, James Nagle, Finnbarr O’Mahony, Eoin Walsh, Seamus Farrell, Peter Dowling, Sean Hennessy, Padraig O’Shea, Padraig O’Keefe, Pa Whyte, Kieran Mulcahy and Paul Haughney

Imokilly / Avondhu Junior Hurling League
Midleton 4-11 Castletownroche 1-14
Our Junior Hurlers A were on the road early last Sunday morning when they travelled to Castletownroche for an 11.30 throw in. This was their second game in the Avondhu / Imokilly League and after a heavy defeat in round one they were keen to put up a stronger performance. In fairness to all involved a much improved performance was forthcoming on the day and at half time we held a nine point lead, 3-09 to 0-10. Our hosts rallied in the second half but we held out for a six point win. Leslie Coughlan was outstanding and was ably assisted by Tommy Wallis, Liam Clohessy, Davy O’Brien and Sean Hennessy.  The Midleton goals came from Shane Ryan, Davey O’Brien, Sean Hennessy and Michael Keohane. Well done to all involved.
Team: Joe Koftus, Alwyn Kearney, Colum Leahy, Liam Clohessy, Brian O’Sullivan, Leslie Coughlan, Shane Ryan, Tommy Wallis, Eoin Ferriter, Ian Fitzpatrick, Michael Keohane, Sean Hennessy, Davey O’Brien, Oisin Cotter, Mark O’Keefe.

Fe 21 A Football Championship
Midleton put their East Cork Fe 21 A Football title on the line when they open their defence of the title this Wednesday, 21st, when they face Youghal at the Top of the Hill pitch in Youghal. Last year was a great one when we reached a County semi final where we lost to eventual County Champions Skibbereen. Preparations have been limited but I am sure the lads will not want to let their title go easily.

St Patricks Day
Last Saturday saw our new Changing Rooms in use for the first time. The game against Carrigtwohill also saw an opportunity for everyone to have a look around our new facilities. After the Senior Hurling League game most people travelled to either participate in or watch the Midleton Parade where our Underage section participated in large numbers.

Collection for Midleton Hospital
The Club took the opportunity on Saturday when we had the large crowd in attendance for our Senior Hurling League game against Carrigtwohill to take up a collection for Midleton Hospital. We are delighted to say that we collected €700 on the day. We will formally hand over the money to Midleton Hospital in the near future. The Club would like to thank all those who gave so generously on the day for such a worthy cause.

Fitzgibbon Cup
The Club would like to extend our congratulations to the Midleton players involved with U.C.C. in their recent win in the Fitzgibbon Cup Final. James Nagle, Patrick O’Mahony and Paul Haughney are now the proud holders of the much coveted Fitzgibbon Cup medal.

Colleges Freshers Hurling
Midleton had three players involved with U.C.C. when they won the Freshers Hurling League recently when they overcame U.L. in the final. Congratulations to Conor Lehane, who captained the team, and to Killian Burke and Tommy Wallis who were also involved.
