JFL Div 2 Castlemartyr  1-10 Glenville 1-12
Castlemartyr played their 3rd match in this league at home to Glenville on Sunday afternoon but unfortunately were defeated by a two point margin. Still short a host of players for one reason or another it was a spirited display from the home side who never gave up and could have even got something from the game at the end.
Glenville enjoyed most of the procession in the 1st half and only for some poor shooting they could have been out of sight by half time. Instead the score line read 6-3 to the visitors with the Castlemartyr scores coming from Barry Lawton (2) and Maurice Hodnett.
Glenville started the second half well with 2 points followed by a goal to give them an 8 point lead but this seemed to wake our lads up who enjoyed a period of dominance for the next 10 minutes. A Maurice Hodnett point and another from Eddie Clifford reduces the gap before Glenville pointed. Then came the highlight of the match after a Glenville played was fouled inside the square and a penalty was awarded. However, Tony Barrett pulled off a miraculous save as the ball seemed destined for the top corner. Glenville added another point to extend their lead but then Castlemartyr had 4 point in a row from Maurice Hodnett (2), Jimmy Smiddy and Eddie Clifford. Barry Lawton then set of on a run that seemed to be going no where but after shaking off a number of challenges he found one on one with the goal keeper which he beat with a low shot.  With now only one point between the sided we could not find the score we needed and Glenville went up the field to get the insurance point. Castlemartyr can take a lot of positives from the game and it should stand to them for championship which is not too far away.

Chest/Leg waxing for Fiji!!
I'd just like to say a huge thanks to everyone who came along to Cliffords’ bar in Castlemartyr last Saturday evening March 3rd  for the  chest/leg waxing fundraising event to support the 'Volunteer Eco Students Abroad ' program,I hope everyone had a good night. Many thanks to the numerous sponsors who contributed so generously to the event.
Furthermore special thanks are due to the beauticians Lydia Barry and Kathleen Mullins for lending their expertise which was greatly appreciated, also to the absolutely outstanding MC Donagh Mc Carthy who kept everyone entertained throughout the night and of course to the participants themselves for their sacrifice without which the event could not have gone ahead: Finbarr O'Mahony, Eddie Clifford, Emmet Budds, Cian Ronayne, Peter Horgan and Bernard Lawton.
