Castlemartyr GAA Notes 26/02/2012
Annual Social 2012
Club members young and old gathered in the lovely setting of Castlemartyr Golf Club on Friday night last for our annual club social. While we had no silverware on display for the first time in 3 years a great night was still had by all. Chairman Dave Fleming presented a number of awards. Barra O’Tuama who is no stranger to the award was awarded the footballer of the year while Evan O’Keeffe was awarded hurler of the year following a great 2011 for him. The club person of the year went to the James Costine for his tremendous work in fundraising for the club. James is the top seller of tickets in our club dray year after year and this contribution is invaluable in the running of our club. After the awards Dave Cusack entertained the crowd with some music until the early hours.
JFL Div 2 Bride Rovers 0-10 Castlemartyr 0-04
Castlemartyr made the journey to Rathcormack on Sunday to take on the locals but had to leave defeated. Short a number of regulars it was a spirited performance from us but a lack of penetration up front meant we could not get enough scores to stay with Bride Rovers.
