Glenville GAA juvenile kicked off the playing season with the U16 Footballers beginning with a challenge game played underlights in Fouhy Park Glenville. Grenagh were the opposition and Glenville won out comfortably in the end of a lively game.
On Tuesday night again in Fouhy Park Erins Own were visitors for the first round of the U14 A Football league. The first half was tough going for both sides with conditions very difficult of all players. Glenville were the better side but failed to convert numerous chances into scores. The second half was more clear cut as Glenville superior football skill winning out at the end of the day and holding Erins Own scoreless in the process.. Good start and hope the season continues in a similar vain. Glenville 3-12 Erins Own 1-3. Training continues for all players from U16 to U11 on Wednesday nights in Fouhy Park from 7pm to 8pm. Please bring €2 for training.
Training for the U6 to U10s will recommence after the winter break at the end of February.

Congratulations to the scor team of Enda Maloney, Tadgh Fitzgerald and Jimmy Healy on winning the question time section of the East Cork  in Lisgoold last Sunday night. Best of luck in the County Finals next Sunday night when the go in search of County honours. Also to Denny Martin who was very unlucky to finish outside the winners enclosure in the solo singing competition.

The U21 Footballers travelled to Kiskeam on Friday night last with a team minus a host of regulars for the second round of the Dick Cahill Cup. Unfortunately Glenville were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat against a strong Kiskeam side.
Glenville U13 Footballers played Whitechurch on Sunday evening in whitechurch in their first game of the year. Glenville were well in control here an won out easily in the end.
The Intermediate team played its first game of the 2012 campaign with a challenge game against Glanworth in Fouhy Park on Sunday morning last. Conditions were heavy after the rain the previous few days but still it was a good workout for our side. Glenville used this game to give as many fellows as possible a run out and it was the first game of the year mistakes were obviously going to happen. Glanworth won out in the end by 2-4 to 0-7.
Glenville play its first game in the County League Div 2 against St Vincents on Feb 19th.
The Minor Footballers kicked off their campaign in the current Premier Football League with an away game against a strong Passage side. Glenville were lethargic in the opening half and the lead that Passage had built up proved too much to overcome. Passage 3-15 Glenville 1-8. Glenvilles next game is on weekend of February 18th v Kiltha Og.

The Junior Leagues will also begin next week. Glenville this year will be entering a 3rd team in Div 3 along with a team in Div 2. The Div 2 team will play Carrigtwohill away in the first game on Sunday 12th at 3pm in Carrigtwohill, followed by a home tie against Fr o Neills on 19th . The Div 3 team play Carrigtoohill in Fouhy Park on this Friday at 7.30pm.
