First Silverware of 2012

Success came early to the Club for the 2012season. Before a sliotar is pucked or a ball kicked we are East Cork champions!At Lisgoold Community Centre on Sunday night last the 2012 Scor Sinnsear Finalsfor the Imokilly Division took place. There is an old saying that 'it's not thesize of the dog in the fight that matters but the size of the fight in thedog'. Well that was certainly true on Sunday last. In total we had fivecompetitors entered in four categories in the Scor Final as follows;

SoloSinging; John Power (Spancil Hill)

Recitation;John Arnold, 'The Bishops Sermon from The Field'

QuestionTime; Daniel Lane, John Arnold & William O Leary

NoveltyAct; Daniel Lane, John Power, John Arnold & William O Leary  ' Cured'.

When theresults were announced  Bride Rovers wonRecitation and Novelty Act and Finished second in the Solo Singing. Marks forthe best overall Club are awarded for participation and results and we won theFelix Sarsfield Trophy as the best Club. We also won the June Daly Trophy forthe Novelty Act.  All the East Corkwinners and runners -up now go forward to the County Semi Final back inLisgoold on this coming Sunday night February 5th at 7pm. The Divisions ofImokilly, Avondhu and Carrigdhoun will be competing in this semi final. Also inLisgoold this coming weekend and the following weekend the quarter finals ofthe East Cork Scor na bPaisti will be held and we wish all our National Schoolcontestants all the very best of luck.

There was adazzling array of Cork, Munster and All Ireland Trophies and Cups on display atthe Vienna Woods Hotel on Saturday night last when the Camogie and LadiesFootball Clubs celebrated the successes of 2011.  At both Club and County level it was a marvellous season and allconcerned , players, parents, coaches, selectors and supporters can bejustifiably proud of their outstanding achievements.


PlayingSeason Opens.

The 2012Playing Season opens officially this weekend. First into action in the CountyLeague are our Minor Football team. They have an away fixture to Cloyne at 2 oclock. Players to meet at the Rathcormac In at 12.30.



Despite thechange in the weather training for many club teams continues with both pitchesand the Astro Turf in constant demand. The Junior Football League and SeniorHurling League will be commencing shortly. The months of Feb/March/April willbe hectic with close on 100 game involving our teams down for decision


East CorkDraws.

The Drawsfor the 2012 East Cork Junior Hurling and Football championships were made at arecent Board meeting. In Junior A Hurling we got an extremely tough drawagainst last years beaten finalists Carrignavar. In Junior Football we got a  tough draw also, against Aghada. While thiswill be Aghada's second team their Senior side will not have playedchampionship. The Draws for the  JuniorB and u 21 Championships will be made shortly.
