Aghada GAA Club News

16 January, 2012

Last Sat 14th a very large number of members attended the Club workshop at the Park hotel Midleton. This was a new venture for the club and it turned out to be a very successful day with all participants getting involved in a variety of discussions and exercises designed to explore how we are doing as a Club and where/how we need to improve in order to secure success in the future - both on and off the Pitch.

The Workshop will be facilitated by Martin Brennan who is an experienced facilitator and whose extended family has been involved in GAA activities for over 70 years in Cork and Kilkenny. Topics covered in the Workshop were:
An assessment of how we are doing on the Pitch, An assessment of how we are doing off the Pitch, Prioritising actions required in order to ensure a winning future.

Guest Speaker-Sports Personality Christy O’Connor author of the best selling book ‘’the Club’’ gave a great talk which went down well with all present. The award winning journalist followed with a lively question and answer session

Well done to Liam Wall, Barry Moran and Paudie Murphy who organised the day.
Special thanks must go to Kevin Day Euro Spar Whitegate and to Aidan Kelleher East Cork Crane hire for their generous sponsorship of the day and also to the Park Hotel for looking after us.

Our Minor hurlers were presented with their medals which they won when they defeated Ballygarvan in the Eastern final last summer.
Also given out were the annual awards; The hurler of the year went to Michael Russell, the footballer of the year went to Kieran O’Connor while  Shane Wall won U21 club person of the year.

Belated congratulations to Kieran and Sinead O’Connor on the birth of their daughter
