Glenville GAA News

The curtains came down on a very eventful year with the final game of the year taking place on Saturday last. Glenville took on a very strong Blarney side in the semi final of the U15 championship in Blarney. Glenville had a number of great victories on route to this stage but the shear physique of the Blarney side proved too much for our game side. Blarney with all but two on the age as we had only three, meant that were always going to struggle. Blarney held a clear advantage at the break leading by 6-3 to 1-5 some of the goals of the very soft nature as we left players run at our defence at regularity. Glenville were a transformed side on the changeover and dominated possession but scores in the poor underfoot conditions were hard to come by. Blarneys resistance finally broke and Glenville came roaring back trimming the intimidating deficit to a manageable four points margin with five minutes to play. Try as we might we could not get through for another score which would have put real pressure on Blarney. The challenge was finally put to bed late on when Blarney found the net on a further two occasions thus running out deserved winners. Well done to this young Glenville side who never let the game dissolve into a Blarney rout and kept the game very competitive right to the end. Final score Blarney 9-9 Glenville 6-8.
