Bride Rovers GAA Club Notes.

GO FOR IT GIRLS!

Sunday next November the 6th 201 is a Red Letter for the Club and the Parish as a Bride Rovers team competes in an All Ireland Club Semi Final. The Ladies Football team have done the Parish proud this year by winning  both the County and Munster Intermediate Championship titles. The County Championship was run of on a League basis and in the County Final the Rovers girls defeated

In the Provincial Championship the Munster Crown was captured after great victories over Moyle Rovers of Tipperary and St. Ailbhes of Limerick. These were two great contests where the girls had to come from behind to earn the wins.

They embark on a completely new adventure on Sunday next when they journey to Co. Louth to play the Leinster Champions.  The Provincial Decider in Leinster was only played last Sunday when Stabannon Parnells of Louth defeated Oldcastle of Meath on a scoreline of 1-6  to  1-5.

The Louth team are actually the Senior Championship winners in their own County for the third year in a row but they are allowed take part in the Leinster Intermediate championship. This will be familiar territory for the Stabannon team as the Rovers must travel tom their opponents home pitch.

That’s the luck of the draw I suppose and all pitches are of a high standard nowadays. This will be a huge challenge for our girls what with travelling the long journey and facing a side well used to competition at all levels. A bus for supporters is travelling and I'm sure a few cars will travel as well.

On behalf of all in the Bride Rovers Hurling and Football Club we wish the girls all they best as they try to reach the All Ireland Final. Go for it girls! Bride Rovers Abu!

U 21's LOSE FOOTBALL FINAL.
Our u21 Football team played it's first and last Championship game at the weekend. Just Lisgoold and ourselves were graded C in this competition so there was only the one game to decide the winners. The Final was fixed for Castlelyons on Saturday afternoon last but switched to Rathcormac.
Just as in the Hurling Final between the same two teams two weeks ago goals settled the issue. We were nearly able to match Lisgoold in raising white flags but we were unable to get through for a goal at any stage and lost by 2  9 t o   0  7.
With the early defeats of our minor hurling and football teams this marked a very poor year for our Club at these grades.
