Lisgoold GAA Club News

In the aftermath of our Championship exit at the hands of Carrig na bhFearr last weekend , we've no time to lick our wounds , as the Junior footballers and Under 21 hurlers build momentum towards their respective Championship encounters .

The big local derby Football Championship tie against neighbors Carrigtwohill is nowe scheduled for Friday week , 2nd , at Ballinacurra , with throw in at 6.30 .

More on this big encounter next week , but meanwhile , loads happening on and off the field .. Under 13 Hurling Championship Lios gCul 7.12 Bride Rovers 2.02

A cracking Chamopiopnship encounter at Pairc Lios gCul on Saturday saw our boys reverse the form on our conquerers in 2010 , with a deserved win for our young boys . From the outset , our splendid score taking was seen to be very effective , with inside forwards Liam Chandler and Rian Hogan excellently supporting the free scoring wing forwards Liam O'Shea (1.7) and Cian Healy (2.02) . Robert Williams , on the 40 , and midfielders Caolan O'Brien and Liam Stack performed heroically throughout .

The launchpad for our victory was in a mean defense , however , where the brilliant Dara O'Shea supported the pivotal half back line where Peter Duggan , Ciaran Cashman , and man of the match Sean Nagle were each superb.

Next outing is a semi final clash against Russell Rovers in Shanagarry on Wednesday . Team ; J Murphy , D O'Shea , S Power , J Hegarty , P Duggan , C Cashman , S Nagle , C O'Briern , L Stack , L O'Shea , R Williams , C Healy , S Collins , L Chandler , R Hogan . Subs ; B Geary , E Ruane , E Roche and R Browne. Under 8's .

Brilliant stuff from our young boys in Shanagarry , where were well treated by our hosts , and the young players of both clubs enjoyed a tremendous game will loads of players showing their skills .

Well dione to Alex , Michael , Eoin C , Eoin H , Thomas , Christian , Jay , Diarmiud , Isaak , Dylan , Noel , Jerry , Jonathan and Tom . Next game , Saturday in Watergrasshill
