Imeachtaí Gael-Taca le linn an tSeachtain Oidhreachta

Tá rogha mór imeachtaí ag Gael-Taca don Seachtain Oidhreachta 2011 idir an 20ú agus an 27ú Lúnasa. Tugann an tSeachtain Oidhreachta deis do ghrupaí imeachtaí a chur ar fáil don pobal a thaispeánann an saghas oibre a bhíonn idir lámhaibh acu. Tá réimse imeachtaí ag Gael-Taca i mbliana a dheineann ceiliúradh ar an dteanga.

Ar an Satharn 20ú Lúnasa, beidh Gael-Taca i mbun siúlóide i gceantar an tSeandúin. An-thráthnóna a bheidh ann, le stair is seanchas na háite, comhluadar is ceol. Tiocfar le chéile ag an Firkin Crane ar 3 a chlog. Ar an gCéadaoin 24ú Lúnasa tabharfaidh Cian Ó Sé eolas dúinn mar gheall ar naomh pátrún na cathrach seo, Fionnbarra, a shaol is a bheatha, ar 7 a chlog in Ionad Gael-Taca, Port Uí Shuilleabháin, Corcaigh. Ar an Aoine 26 Lúnasa, ar 11 a chlog ar maidin, tiocfar le chéile ag Ionad Gael-Taca le haghaidh siúlóide stairiúil dátheangach timpeall na cathrach. Tabharfaidh Ken Cotter saineolas dúinn ar fhás na cathrach agus an tionchar a bhí ag an abhainn ar fhás is ar fhorbairt na cathrach.

Tráthnóna Aoine ar 7.30 , beidh seisiúin amhránaíochta againn in Ionad Gael-Taca ar Phort Uí Shuillebháin le Aodán Ó Sé. Abair Amhrán, le cuntas ar an amhrán cáiliúil Mo Ghile Mear leis an bhfile Corcaíoch Seán Clárach Mac Domhnaill. Tabharfar léargas ar shaol an fhile, ar fhocail an dáin, agus canfaimid an t-amhrán le chéile. Beidh an ócáid ar fad tré Ghaeilge.

Cuirfear fáilte romhat arís in Ionad Gael-Taca maidin Shatharn 27 Lúnasa i gcomhair cur síos ar sheanfhocail agus logainmneacha le Seán Pól MacCoitir. Seisiún é seo a bheidh ana thaitneamhach. “Táimid an-shásta cúig imeachtaí as Gaeilge a chur ar siúl le linn an tSeachtain Oidhreachta” a deir Áine Ní Shléibhín, Oifigeach Forbartha Gael-Taca. “Is iontach an rud é go bhfuil ceiliúradh á dhéanamh ar an dteanga mar chroí-lár oidhreachta ár dtíre. Irish language Events in Cork for Heritage Week

Gael-Taca, Corcaigh le Gaeilge are organising a number of Irish Language events as part of Heritage week 2011 August 20th -27th in Cork. On Saturday, 20th August, Gael-Taca will be hosting a bilingual walking tour of the historic Shandon region. The event is free, and all are welcome to meet outside the Firkin Crane at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. On Wednesday 24th of August, Cian Ó Sé will give a presentation on Cork’s own St. Finbarr and his life in Gael-Taca’s Irish Language Centre on Sullivans Quay. The event begins at 7 p.m. Walking on Water will be the theme of a bilingual walking tour of Cork city. Ken Cotter will host this event for Gael-Taca, looking at the influence of water and waterways in the development of Cork City. Meeting at Gael-Taca’s Irish Language Centre on Sullivans Quay on Friday 26th of August at 11a.m. In the evening time then on the 26th, the focus will shift from history to culture as Aodán Ó Sé hosts “Abair Amhrán”; a look at the famous song “Mo Ghile Mear” as written by the Cork poet Seán Clárach Mac Domhnaill. The evening will have information on the origins and meaning of the song and plenty of opportuinities to sing as well. The event will be all as Gaeilge, and free of charge. Doors open at 7. 30 p.m. in Gael-Taca, Sullivans Quay. On Saturday morning 27th August 2011, Seán Pól Mac Coitir will visit Gael-Taca to talk about Proverbs and placenames in Irish; their origins and meanings. “We are thrilled to have 5 events orgnaised for Heritage Week this year” says Áine Ní Shléibhín, Marketing Manager with Gael-Taca. “The language is an inherint part of our culture and should be recognised and celebrated as such. There are also a large number of voluntary organisations with plans to celebrate Heritage week and the language and we are here to help and support those organisations as well”.
