Avondhu/Imokilly J H L S1 : Sat 4, Jun 11:

Castlemartyr 0-17 Ballyhooley 0-16

Castlemartyr got their second win of the league at a sun soaked Castlemartyr on Saturday last. In what was a tough game throughout, the Reds will be happy to get such a competitive game with only a few weeks to the championship opener against Dungourney.

With a slight wind advantage Castlemartyr led by 3 points at the break, 9-6. Jimmy Smiddy was winning a lot of ball on his wing, scoring some lovely points both from play and frees. Others to get on the score sheet were Eddie Clifford and Evan O’Keeffe.

The visitors upped their performance after the break, reducing the deficit to a single point. Castlemartyr were able to keep their noses in front however and only for the concession of too many frees by the home team, this game would not have been as close.

Div 3 League: Mon 30, May 11:

Castlemartyr 0-8 Erins Own 4-10

Missing a number of players from our first two matches, Castlemartyr went down to a stronger Erins Own team at home last Monday night. Again, we conceded two many goals to give us any chance of getting something from the game and our lack of score up front also meant it was a comfortable win for the men from Erins Own.

Best for Castlemartyr on the night were Kevin O’Leary in midfield who worked tirelessly all evening.
