Lisgoold GAA Club News

Further compliments for our Club as the Cork County Board honoured us by allowing us to facilitate the County Intermediate Championship fixture between Cobh and Fermoy on Friday .

A fantastic Club effort saw the grounds in pristine condition , where the playing surface , in particular drew complimentary praise from both sides . Kudos in particular to the grounds preparation team , who prepared the pitch to such a high standard . Also , thanks to all who helped out in parking cars , issuing programmes and especially those who organised the brilliant sunshine which embellished the event to such a fantastic level

Lios gCul 0.19 Carrig na bhFearr 0.10 A very positive return to winning ways after the journey to the western perimeter of the Barony earlier this week , which resulted in us taking the two hard fought league points .

A more threatening forward performance saw us notch a creditable 19 scores , with Maurice O'Connell , and John Cronin keeping the scoreboard ticking with regularity. Accuracy from play and placed ball duties saw John Cashman continue his upward path , noted no doubt by the watching Cork Minor selectors , who must have been impressed . Whilst Mike Woods is certainly giving youth a deserved fling , the experienced ranks of Noel Connery and Jerry O'Connell continue to strengthen the spine of the side , as competition for places in the Championship XV hots up .

Championship fever will grow over the next few weeks , with the provisional date of 18th June tentatively etched in the diary , with a likely Dungourney venue looming . Watch here and locally for confirmation as the date nears .

To all the students in our parish, a very positive Best Wishes from all in CLCG Lios gCul. Once the examinations are over, the long and sunny summer will stretch out before you, and, your life choices will hopefully fall neatly into place . Best wishes in the exams, and here's to a brilliant summer afterwards for all of you .

JACK'S THE LAD ... In the late 1980's we were all "part of Jackie's army" as the Irish soccer team marched across Europe and beyond witnessing various successes . Now we are marching behind another young man of the same name , and one who has the potential to be just as successful .

Young Jack Ryan has long impressed , both on and off the field of play , and the promising and likeable youngster has continued to impress . Imokilly hurling selectors have obviously agreed with those who are impressed by his all round mobility and all action style .

Jack is the latest Lisgoold under age player to be honoured by Divisional selection , which is testament to not only his ability , but to the great strides being made at our Under Age levels . Congratulations Jack , and continued success from all in Lios gCul CLCG .
