Junior Hurling League Div I

Lios gCul 0.14 Midleton 0.19

After an extended period of concentration on football, the team rebounded to hurling action with a league encounter in Midleton on Wednesday evening .

A somewhat scrappy encounter with few goal scoring opportunities saw our big town neighbours outpoint us to success on a night when John Cashman , playing in the pivotal full forward position, was our best and most productive performer.

Ciaran Cronin showed why he is Imokilly's first choice keeper, with an assured and confident handling display, whilst he was afforded great protection by the excellent Cathal Cashman at full back, who continues to grow into the role.

Rob Smart made the most of his opportunities, firing three points in quick succession, but an overall lack of hurling practice will need to be rectified (and surely will) before the next round of fixtures, despite other notable performances by a solid half back line of Jerry O'Connell , Conor Walsh who flanked the dependable Charles Smart.

Junior Hurling League Div III

Lios gCul 4.15 Watergrasshill 5.23 Friday night saw us take the short journey to Watergrasshill in Division 3 of the Junior Hurling League , and partake in probably one of the highest scoring games we will encounter in many a year.

A total of nine goals and thirty eight points - forty seven scores in total - equating to one score every seventy five seconds ! This was value for money at it's very very best , where to turn away for a brief moment would guarantee that a score or incident would be missed .

A verifiable scorefest , where we trailed 5.15 to 1.05 at the short whistle , saw us chasing shadows throughout the opening period , exposed by very clever forward play by our hosts .

A number of positional changes at half time saw us push on , driven by the introduction of Finbarr Brosnan and the continued excellence of Cathal Cashman . Powered by the scoring feats of Jamie Woods and John Cashman , our second half revival saw us notch 3.10 but the interval advantage built by our opponents saw them home on a Friday 13th night that saw a horror show almost turn around to a bright dawn before the final credits rolled.

Under 14 Football

Lisgoold 5-7 Cloyne 3-13

We played Cloyne in the 2nd round of the Under 14 football league last Monday night in Lisgoold. After a very exciting hours football, a draw was a fair result on the night.

Man of the match for Lisgoold was Caomhan O'Shea who scored 4-2 with another goal from Caolan O'Brien and 3 points from Ciaran O'Shea and 1 a piece for Rian Hogan and Liam O'Shea.

Welcome back to Kieran Cashman who played in goals and made a number of excellent saves. It was a great team performance as every player battled hard right to the final whistle.

Under 12 Hurling

Lios gCul 5.07 Whitechurch 4.01 The top field hosted the visit of Whites to Pairc Lios gCul on a blustery Thursday evening, which saw a powerful second half display result in a deserved victory for the Young Blues.

A good spread of goal scorers , from Liam Chandler , Robert Williams and the brilliant Liam O'Shea saw our boys overcome a dogged opponent on a night when Cian Healy and the superb Jason Hegarty marshalled their defensive colleagues effectively .

A feature of the game was also the welcome return to playing action of Peter Duggan , who played a cameo role on introduction at half time on his half time introduction.

Best Wishes
