Micheálwho died in his mid 50s in April 2010 was Cisteoir of Carraig na bhFear GAA at the time of his death.

Micheál served as treasurer of Coiste ns nOg [East Cork Under Age Board] and also treasurer of East Cork Scor Committee.

He had a life long passion for both Gaelic Games and Irish Culture particularly Set Dancing and made a significant input to the organisation and promotion of these activities.

In his playing days Micheál was equally proficient at both hurling and football, and was a member of the Carraig na bhFear JF Team which won the East Cork in 1975 losing out in the Co Final to Bandon.

Micheál came from a very sporting family. His brother Dan Joe and as well as his neices and nephews have achieved many notable successes at local and national level.

Micheál's wife Siobhan was very anxious that Micheál's contribution and committment to CLCG Oirthir Corcaighe would be remembered by the Presentation of this Micheál Foley Trophy in his honour.
